Today's Story

✍️Fictitious Story
Emma carried her pink water bottle up the stairs and stopped at her own flat. Inside, Papa sat with his spoon in his hand and said nothing. Mama was quiet too. The soup steamed in the pot, and the warm smell filled the whole kitchen. Emma wanted to be quiet as well. Her tummy felt tight. Then she pulled out her chair and said, "Thank you, God, for the soup. Thank you that it is hot. Thank you for Papa." Mama looked up. The corner of her mouth went up. Papa nodded and ladled more soup into Emma's bowl. "That smells so good," Emma said. And she meant it.

Reflection

Paul wrote this verse at the very end of a letter. He was finishing a list of short instructions for his friends. This was not a list of big rules. It was help for everyday life with God. Paul says, give thanks in all circumstances. That little word in matters. God does not ask you to thank Him for the hard thing. He asks you to keep thanking Him while the hard thing is happening. He is still there. Some days are quiet and heavy. Soup is still warm. The sun still comes in. A pet still waits at the door. God puts small good things inside every day, even a sad one. Saying thank you helps you notice them. Thanking God will not make worry vanish all at once. It turns your eyes toward Him. Paul says this is God's will for you, in Christ Jesus. He is close.

Think About It

• What small good thing did you notice today?
• When a day feels quiet or heavy, what is one thing you can still thank God for?

Prayer

Dear God, some days feel quiet, and I do not know why. My tummy feels tight and I want to hide. But You are still here with me. Thank You for soup, and sun, and people who love me. I do not understand everything, yet I will trust You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Live It Out

Tonight at bedtime, say thank you to God for three things. Say them out loud.
