🙏Talking to God

Talking to God Before Sleep

You can tell God anything, and His peace will guard your heart.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

— Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

Paul's letter to the Philippians

Today's Story

✍️Fictitious Story
Emma lay in bed. Her pink water bottle sat on the nightstand. Its stickers glowed in the dark. From the living room came Papa's quiet. It was the kind that filled the whole house. Emma's chest felt tight. Sometimes she thought the quiet was because of her. She wished she could fix it. Then she remembered the verse from Sunday. She pulled the blanket up to her chin and whispered, "God, I am worried about Papa. Thank You for him. Please help him feel okay." She did not know if anything changed. But her chest felt softer. She closed her eyes and slept.

Reflection

Paul wrote a letter to his friends in Philippi. He told them not to worry. Instead, they should pray. They could talk to God about anything. They could say thank you too. Then God's peace would guard their hearts and minds. That peace is special. It is bigger than we can understand. God wants us to talk to Him like a friend. We can tell Him when we feel happy. We can tell Him when we feel worried. We can say thank you for good things. We can ask for help. We do not need long, fancy words. We can use our own words. When we pray, God may not change everything right away. But He gives us His peace. That peace is like a quiet hug inside. It helps us feel safe. It guards our hearts. So tonight, before you sleep, tell God one thing from today. Just one thing. He is listening.

Think About It

• What is one thing from today that you can tell God about in your own words?
• What is one thing you can thank God for right now, even if it is small?

Prayer

Father, thank You for my bed, for my family, and for Your listening ear. Thank You that I can tell You anything, big or small. Thank You for loving me. Please give me Your peace that guards my heart and mind. All glory to You. Amen.

Live It Out

Before you sleep tonight, tell God one thing from today. Use your own words. He is listening.
