But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Fruit of the Spirit

Today's Story

✍️Fictitious Story
The kitchen floor glowed with the flat, bright light of late afternoon, the kind that makes every crumb look enormous. Mateo's stomach knotted whenever a shadow crossed the doorway, because the floral mug was shoved under the sofa cushion where nobody had noticed it yet. So he slipped out to the corridor and fed the stray ginger cat, one piece at a time, because feeding a cat made his hands busy and his head quiet. Then a voice drifted down from the balcony above. It was his father, Carlos, calling that he had left his floral mug at work the night before and asking if anyone had seen it. Mateo wiped his nose on his sleeve, went back inside, and pulled the mug out from under the cushion. He carried it to the door with both hands and held it up. "Papa, it's here," he said.

Reflection

Galatians 5:22-23 talks about the fruit of the Spirit, and kindness is one of the pieces of fruit. Fruit does not try very hard. It just grows, because the tree is healthy and fed. Kindness grows in you the same way, because God's Spirit lives inside you and makes you want to be gentle with people. Mateo could have left the mug under the cushion and hoped nobody looked. Instead he carried it out and held it up. That is a kind choice, and it made his father's voice softer right away. Kindness can be just as small at school. Think of the classmate sitting alone while everyone else has a partner. One hello, one seat pulled out, one crayon picked up from the floor. That is kindness growing. Today, do one kind thing for someone without telling anyone about it.

Think About It

• What is one small kind thing you could do for someone at school this week?

• When someone feels left out, how could your hands or your words help?

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your Spirit that grows kindness in me, for hands that can carry and give, and for voices that call my name. I confess that I sometimes hide instead of helping. Grow Your fruit in me today. All glory to You, now and forever. Amen.

Live It Out

Do one kind thing for someone today without telling anyone.
