Today's Story

✍️Fictitious Story
The pen felt cool and smooth against his thumb as the class talked around him. Dinesh had wanted to say that he was there too, but the words stayed behind his teeth, so he turned to the margin of his notebook instead. He drew a boy with no outline at all, a boy the teacher walked past and the group forgot to save a chair for. Because the invisible boy looked lonely, Dinesh gave him a small cape made of notebook lines. He had watched the ironed interview shirt hang on the door that morning, so he knew what it felt like to get ready for something that never came. Then he slid the page toward Ananya, who was sorting her pencils by colour. She stopped, looked at the drawing, and pressed a strip of masking tape onto the blank boy's chest so he would hold on the page. "There," she said. "Now he stays."

Reflection

In John 3:16, Jesus was talking with a teacher named Nicodemus at night. He said that God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son. That love is not vague and far away. It lands on one child at a time, and it lands on you. That morning, Dinesh felt exactly like his drawing. He thought he was easy to walk past. Then Ananya taped the figure down, and suddenly he stayed on the page instead of sliding off. Jesus does that same kind of thing for the quiet child at the table, the one last chosen, the one nobody saved a seat for. He gives His Son for you, and He knows your name. Today, look for someone who might feel passed over. Say their name out loud and sit beside them. That is how love becomes something a person can see and hear.

Think About It

• Where do you notice a child who has no chair saved for them?
• How does it change things when someone says your name and stays?
