Psalm 118 is a song of thanks. The singer says, "The LORD has done it this very day." He means the day he is living in right now, this one, came from God. Then he says, "let us rejoice today and be glad."
He does not wait for a better day to be glad. He is glad in this one, because God made it.
Lucas did not wait for a big day either. He looked at soup, sunlight, and a wooden bus, and he thanked God for them. Nothing in that day was famous. All of it came from God's hands.
You can do the same. Look around at dinner, or on the walk home. Find three small things. Then say thank you out loud. Today is God's gift, so we can be glad in it.
🙌Thank You, God!
This Is the Day God Made God made today, and we can say thank you for it.

Rejoice today
Today's Story
✍️Fictitious Story
Miriam set the soup pot on the table, and steam curled up into the air. Lucas held his spoon and thought about his wooden bus waiting beside his pillow. He wanted to eat fast and go.
He lifted the spoon. Then he put it down.
"Thank you, God, for this soup," he said out loud.
Samuel looked up from his bowl. "That was a kind thing to say."
"I'm saying thank you for three things," Lucas said. "Soup is one."
"What are the other two?" asked Emma.
Lucas thought for a moment. "The sun on the corridor tiles this morning. And Grandpa's bus."
So he ate his soup slowly instead of rushing, and it was warm all the way down.
Reflection
Think About It
• What are three small things you can see right now that God made or gave you? • Who could you tell about one thing you are thankful for?
Prayer
You are the God who made this very day. You made the sun, the soup, and the people who love me. I will not wait for a better day to be glad. I say thank you now. I hold to that today. Amen.
Live It Out
Tonight, before bed, say thank you to God for three things. Name them out loud, one by one.
